Around a week ago, my stepson asked a simple question: “Can we go to that place in southern Portugal?”
A few days later, we were there.
One of the things I’ve always appreciated about the life I’ve built is that kind of flexibility. My office travels with me. While my family heads to the beach or the pool, I can write a Field Note, record a video, or fly my drone over the Algarve coastline. It never really feels like work. It just feels like life—only with a different backdrop.
This week’s video is a little glimpse of that backdrop. I take you to Albufeira, one of my favorite places in Portugal, explain why my family keeps coming back, and share a few thoughts about the kind of retirement I’m working toward. For me, it was never about quitting. It was always about having the freedom to choose where I spend my time, what I work on, and who I spend my days with. I hope you enjoy the view.
